Kazakhstan: more than 400 corruption offenses have been committed since the beginning of the year

401 corruption crimes were committed in Kazakhstan during the first two months of 2021. Such data are presented in the summary report on corruption crimes of the Committee on Legal Statistics and Special Records of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Kazakhstan.

According to official data, the total number of crimes in process during the specified period amounted to 1047. Of these: especially grave – 20, grave – 660, moderate – 264, minor – 21.

As for the indicators for January-February 2021, out of 401 corruption crimes, 14 are particularly grave, 272 are grave, 94 are moderate crimes and 21 are minor crimes.

The largest number of crimes was committed under the article 133 “Giving a bribe”. In the second place of this rating are crimes under the article 122 “Taking bribes”. In the third place are crimes under the article 52 “Misappropriation or embezzlement of entrusted other people’s property”. In the fourth place is “Fraud” (33), in the fifth one – “Abuse of office” (25).

At the same time, the established amount of material damage for the criminal cases completed during this period exceeded $ 3.5 million, of which: for especially grave crimes – $ 71,428, for grave crimes – $ 3.36 million, for minor crimes – $ 125.6 thousand.

The Committee also reports that out of $ 3.5 million, the law enforcement agencies managed to compensate only $ 1.8 million (51%).
