Kyrgyzstan: victim of abuse claims compensation from authorities

On March 17, the lawyer Sardor Abdukhalilov filed a claim to the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek to recover compensation for moral harm for the victim of cruel and inhumane treatment, Roza Gorbaeva. This was reported by the human rights organization “One World (Bir Duino)”.

The amount of the claim is $ 118,000 (10 million KGS).

Human rights activists believe that this amount corresponds to the severity of the physical and mental suffering caused to the woman.

Roza Gorbaeva spent 3 years in a temporary detention center in inhuman conditions for a crime, which, according to her, she didn’t commit.

“The staff of the temporary detention center are men. Rosa was subjected to gender discrimination. She was forced to take shower and dress in the presence of men. The cell, in which the woman was kept, was 2×3 meters in size; there was an unenclosed toilet inside. That is, the prisoners ate, drank and did the deed in one small cell,” the human rights organization explains.
