Kyrgyzstan: State Committee for National Security becomes interested in multimillion-dollar property of the father of ex-president’s son-in-law

The anti-corruption service of the State Committee for National Security found out that Aliyarbek Abzhaliev (the father of son-in-law of ex-president of Kyrgyzstan) has multimillion-dollar property. Pre-trial proceedings have begun on the fact of illegal enrichment.

It has been established that Abzhaliev, being a member of the Parliament, and also using his kinship with the ex-president of the Kyrgyz Republic, actively meddled in the work of state bodies. At the same time, he lobbied the interests of private structures to the detriment of state interests.

“Abzhaliev, working in government positions, became owner of property that is incomparable with his official income. In particular, he owns more than 20 elite apartments, residential houses in VIP towns of Bishkek, a boarding house in Issyk-Kul region, land plots in Issyk-Kul and Chui regions, as well as real estate in Turkey and the United Arab Emirates,” the State Committee said.

In addition, the investigators established that the deputy invested significant amounts of money in one of the companies for the construction of apartment buildings in the capital and other commercial facilities, namely in Kaindy cable plant and in the deposits of coal and gold.

Currently, within the framework of the specified pre-trial proceedings, measures are being taken to establish all the property and financial assets of Abzhaliev.
