Kyrgyzstan: director of news agency was detained for extortion

The State Committee for National Security has detained Umut Mukambetova, director of the news agency “News (Kabarlar)”.

Director of the News (Kabarlar) Umut Mukambetova was detained red-handed while receiving money in the amount of $ 1000 (84,000 KGS).

“The detainee blackmailed the applicant with a video when the victim, driving under the influence, was brought to administrative responsibility by the patrol police,” the State Committee for National Security informed.
