On February 13, on the fact of extorting a bribe against the head of the state enterprise “Kyrgyz Gold (Kyrgyzaltyn)”, Elmyrza Ukubaev, Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek chose a preventive measure in the form of detention in jail in the State Committee for National Security until April 12. This was reported by the press service of the State Committee.
The investigation established that Ukubaev, using his official position, blackmailed a member of the board of directors of one of the gold mining companies with a state share. In particular, under the threat of dismissal, he demanded that the aggrieved person give him 75% of his salary.
“On February 12, as a result of the investigative and operational measures, the official was detained red-handed while receiving a bribe in the amount of $ 1183 (100,000 KGS),” the State Committee for National Security informs.
Currently, within the framework of pre-trial proceedings, measures are being taken to identify similar facts of extortion and bribe-taking by Elmyrza Ukubaev.
Elmyrza Ukubaev became the head of Kyrgyzaltyn in November 2020 after the former chairman of the state-owned enterprise Almaz Alimbekov resigned due to a series of rallies.
