The fact of extortion of a bribe on an especially large scale by the head of the information policy department of the executive personnel of Kyrgyzstan, Nurgazy Anarkulov, was revealed. This was reported by the State Committee for National Security.
It was established that Nurgazy Anarkulov, abusing his official position, extorted money on an especially large scale from an applicant for one of the leading government positions for a positive decision on his appointment.
On this fact, the State Committee for National Security has begun pre-trial proceedings on the grounds of a crime under article 326 “Extortion of a bribe”. On January 30, as part of the ongoing investigative and operational measures, the head of the presidential press service was detained and taken to the State Committee for National Security.
“In view of the ongoing socio-political processes in Kyrgyzstan, the facts of extortion of money under the pretext of obtaining approval from the country’s top leadership on public administration issues, including personnel appointments, have become more frequent. Such actions of representatives of state bodies will be suppressed to the fullest extent of the current legislation, despite the positions and services,” the State Committee notes.
It’s worth adding that this is not the first time that Anarkulov is suspected of extortion. In May 2012, being the chief editor of Maidan.kg, he was also accused of extorting $ 1,000 from a resident of Bishkek, threatening to publish compromising materials. How the editor-in-chief managed to avoid punishment is unknown.
