Uzbekistan: 23 employees of Interior Ministry were dismissed due to corruption since the beginning of the year

The main personnel department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Tashkent issued the statement on the fight against corruption in the Ministry.

For 11 months of this year, 23 corrupt employees were dismissed from the ranks of the Internal Affairs bodies. 11 managers lost their positions, and disciplinary measures were applied to 40 employees.

At the briefing held on December 15 at the Agency of Information and Mass Communications, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Rustam Khatamov told in which areas most corruption crimes were committed. According to him, “for 10 months of this year, the employees of the main and territorial departments for combating corruption and economic crimes have identified 673 cases of corruption. As a result of operational measures, 126 persons were detained, and appropriate measures have already been taken against 84 persons”.

Rustam Khatamov noted the growth of corruption crimes in the social sphere. Most often, crimes are committed among representatives of SME, as well as in the agricultural sector.

Earlier, the ACCA wrote that during two years, the security agencies brought 1986 officials to justice. The most common corruption crimes are misappropriation or embezzlement of property, abuse of powers, giving and receiving bribes.

In the economic sphere, corruption occurs mainly in the use of budget funds. During this period, the state suffered damage in excess of $ 35 million. In these cases, the criminal charges brought against more than two thousand persons. Total corruption losses are estimated at $ 193 million.
