Kyrgyzstan: Japarov gave corrupt officials 30 days to return their “acquired” to the treasury

Acting President and Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov announced an economic amnesty.

Japarov said that over the past 30 years, systemic corruption schemes flourished in such industries as energy, customs and tax services, pharmaceuticals, licensing, subsoil use and others.

“In this regard, corrupt officials who organized criminal schemes, profited from the people, robbing them; former officials who are in the shares of various companies; officials who illegally took possession of shares in large enterprises by means of raider seizure; entrepreneurs who evade taxes; individual officials who are involved in violation of the current legislation, or who assist in the commission of these acts; heads of ministries and departments; customs officers and financiers, I give you 30 days!!! I want you to voluntarily disclose everything and provide real information about the same facts,” Japarov says in his appeal.

The acting president demanded that everything, that was acquired by corrupt officials, be returned to the state treasury.

“Voluntarily refund every penny illegally received from the state. Disclose and provide information about your hidden assets and capital. That’s all! For now, I give you time and opportunity. In a short time, a legal framework will be prepared for economic amnesty and legalization of funds, movable and immovable property. If you do not take this opportunity and ignore the economic amnesty, the most stringent measures will be taken in accordance with the law. I promise you this, we will establish the property, capital of each of you, wherever they are,” added Sadyr Japarov.

It should be added that the acting head of state guaranteed the inviolability of the declared property and income, exemption from all types of punishment. In addition, he promised to respect complete confidentiality when voluntarily declaring property and income.
