Media in Kyrgyzstan are receiving threats from protesters

Several editorial offices of mass media popular in Kyrgyzstan received threatening letters. This was reported to ACCA by representatives of the editorial staff.

The letter says that the protesters intend to smash the editorial offices.

It is already known that supporters of one of the political leaders attacked the film crew of Radio Liberty (Azattyk). The protesters did not like the way the correspondent covered what was happening.

Aggressive people started threatening journalists directly to camera. They said they would come to the editorial office.

The film crew managed to avoid a difficult collision with the protesters by retiring from the scene.

“In the near future, an attack on the building of Radio Liberty is planned. We send public order volunteers there, but if anyone wants to help, we ask you to stand up,” the volunteers wrote in the Telegram channel “Our city”.

This information was confirmed in the editorial office of Radio Liberty.

“We don’t know for sure there will be an attack or not,” the editorial office said. “Our journalist was threatened on the square and told that they would come. The public order volunteers decided to play it safe and go to our office.”

It is worth adding that the protesters took away the phone from the journalist of 24.kg during the speech of members of one of the parties near the building of the Opera and Ballet Theater.

“We ask you to help us to inform the public order volunteers. We have received information that an attack is being prepared on our office. Threats are also received through social networks,” the editorial office said.
