Kyrgyzstan: Financial Police officer was detained while accepting bribe

The Anti-Corruption service of the State Committee for National Security established the fact of extortion of money on an especially large scale by employees of the State Service for Combating Economic Crimes.

“In Bishkek, during the investigative and operational measures, carried out together with the State Service for Combating Economic Crimes, a senior operative of the State Security Service was detained while receiving a bribe in the amount of $ 1.5 thousand. The captain systematically extorted money from representatives of one company for a positive solution to the issue of paying VAT to the state revenue,” the State Committee explained.

Currently, within the framework of pre-trial proceedings, appropriate measures are being taken to document the fact of extortion and to establish the involvement of other employees of the Financial Police.
