Kyrgyzstan: former Minister of Health arrested and placed in pre-trial detention center

The Pervomayskiy District Court of Bishkek applied a preventive measure against the suspect Kosmosbek Cholponbaev in the form of detention in pre-trial detention center # 1 for 2 months. This was reported by the State Committee for National Security.

On September 17, the General Prosecutor’s Office of Kyrgyzstan, following the results of consideration of the petition of the investigation group of the Investigative Department of the Financial Police and the materials of the criminal case, issued a notification on the suspicion of the former Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic Kosmosbek Cholponbaev of abuse of office.

“Cholponbaev is suspected that, abusing his official position, as well as against the interests of the people and the state, he entered into a knowingly unfavorable contract for the provision of consulting services. As a result of his actions, the state budget was damaged by $ 822.7 thousand (65 million soms).

Let us remind you that the former Minister of Health was detained on September 15 this year on suspicion of committing a crime under Article 320 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
