Kyrgyzstan: Interior Ministry officials extort bribes from their subordinates

The facts of extortion of money by the leadership of individual divisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic from their subordinates have been established, informs the State Committee for National Security.

This fact is registered in the Unified Register of Crimes and Misdemeanors under Article 326, Part 2, Clause 1 “Extortion of a bribe” of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

“As a result of the investigative and operational measures, a police colonel, the commander of the 3rd battalion of the Interior Ministry’s Security Service, and his deputy lieutenant of the police were detained. During the pre-trial proceedings, it was established that they extorted from individual subordinates $ 2 thousand for deciding on their further stay in their positions. In case of refusal, they threatened to take measures to dismiss them from the internal affairs bodies, ”explained by the State Committee.

The detainees were placed in the temporary detention facility of the State Committee for National Security and the investigation is underway.
