Kyrgyzstan: main metropolitan drug fighter arrested for stealing 3 kg of gold

The head of the Bishkek department of the Service for Combating Illicit Drug Trafficking was detained. It was reported by the State Committee for National Security.

He is suspected of involvement in the theft of material evidence.

“Within the framework of the criminal case under investigation into the theft of material evidence (3 kg of gold) found at the scene of operative-search activities by officers of the Service for Combating Illicit Drug Trafficking (SCIDT), a police lieutenant colonel, head of the department for the city of Bishkek, was detained,” specified at State Committee.

The man was placed in the temporary detention center of the State Committee for National Security under Article 98 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

We will remind, earlier in this case three officers of the SCIDT and two civilians were already detained.

On this fact, pre-trial proceedings were started under article 320 “Abuse of official position” and article 200 “Theft” of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
