Uzbekistan: Interior Ministry employees detained while receiving bribe

State security officers have detained two Interior Ministry officials since early August, accused of taking bribes.

The deputy head of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Bekabad district of the Tashkent region was handcuffed upon receiving $ 5,000. According to the operational development, he took money for changing the measure of restraint to a wanted person.

The detention took place during the interaction of officers of the State Security Service and the territorial administration of the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the General Prosecutor’s Office.

A criminal case is initiated, but it is not yet known under which articles of the Criminal Code. An investigation is underway.

Earlier, a similar case occurred in the Khorezm region. The preventive maintenance inspector of the offense prevention unit of the Shavat District Internal Affairs Department intended to make three citizens new passports for $ 1200, changing their personal data through friends at the migration and citizenship department.

The names and ranks of both suspects were not disclosed.
