Kyrgyzstan: journalist Bobomurod Abdullayev to spend 30 days in the remand center

The Pervomaisky court of the city of Bishkek has chosen a preventive measure in the form of 30 days in the detention center of the State Committee for National Security against the Uzbek journalist detained in Kyrgyzstan at the request of official Tashkent. This was reported to ACCA by the journalist’s lawyer Natalya Kotik.

According to her, the session of the Pervomaisky court in the case of Abdullayev was to be held on August 10 at 15:30. However, I had to wait, and the session itself lasted for a long time.

“By the decision of the court, Bobomurod Abdullayev will be in the pre-trial detention center of the State Committee for National Security until September 8 (30 days). During this time, it will be decided whether Kyrgyzstan will transfer a journalist to Uzbekistan or not, ”the lawyer explained.

The defense side does not agree with the court decision and intends to appeal against it in the city court.

“Our main task is to prevent the extradition of a journalist to Uzbekistan while he is being held in a pre-trial detention center,” concluded Natalya Kotik.

We recall that on the evening of August 9, officers of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan detained a journalist from Uzbekistan Bobomurod Abdullayev at the request of official Tashkent.

Also, according to the lawyers, Bobomurod Abdullaev applied for asylum in Kyrgyzstan, and until this issue is considered the authorities cannot transfer the journalist to the Uzbek side.
