Uzbekistan: unknown people tried to hack telegram accounts of bloggers

On August 6, a group of bloggers announced attempts to hack their telegram accounts. In particular, the blogs of Feruzkhan Yakubkhodazhev, Sasha Ivanyuzhenko, Zafarbek Solizhonov, and Shukhrat Kurbanov were attacked by unknown persons.

The administrator of the Insider.uz channel, Ivanyuzhenko, said that at about seven o’clock in the evening, several domestic bloggers received SMS and telegram notifications with an entry code. “Someone tried to log into the accounts of channel owners, which caused slight bewilderment among the community with their pronounced dementia,” Ivanyuzhenko noted. “The problem is that most Telegram users and all bloggers have a 2ID or cloud password.”

The chairman of the board of trustees of the Public Fund for Support and Development of National Mass Media, Komil Allamzhonov, promptly spoke in defense of bloggers.

“In the modern age of technology, it is impossible to artificially block information,” Allamzhonov said. “With this method, we give carte blanche and help other, more precisely, foreign media that are unfriendly to us.”

His message was picked up by blogger Nikita Makarenko, saying that he completely agreed with the concept of this idea.

“Nothing good will come from suppressing local journalists,” Makarenko said. – Well ok, we will stop writing. The entire information space will be occupied by foreign media – remember how it was in 2015. Their agenda is extremely far from love for the homeland, which we have in our hearts. ”

Earlier, ACCA published material about the seizure of electronic devices and the interrogation of seven bloggers from Karakalpakstan. These attacks were ignored by the Foundation’s leadership.

Allamzhonov also indifferently reacted to the discrediting of the journalists of the independent online publication Hook.report. On behalf of Darina Solod and Vlad Avdeev, announcements about the provision of sex services appeared on the network on July 30.

Hook journalists posted material about the summons of the blogger Miraziz Bazarov to the State Security Service, after which someone tried to denigrate them in a way typical for Uzbek security officers.

Darina noted on the social network that “before the State Security Service broke off fingers in basements, now they publish your numbers on sex dating sites …”.

On July 29, mobile operator Beeline deprived Miraziz Bazarov of Internet access. Unidentified persons also intended to hack into his social media accounts. There were attempts of mass registration in various services to his number, the activist received dozens of messages with confirmation and verification codes.
