Volunteers from Jalal-Abad complained to the human rights organization Spravedlivost about pressure from certain employees of the Financial Police. This is reported on the website of the organization.
In particular, a member of the Jalal-Abad youth movement, 31-year-old Nargiza Garayeva, in an interview with human rights activists, spoke about the pressure from the Financial Police for volunteering. The supervisory authority’s claim is that the volunteer movement is not legally registered.
“They told us that since we are not a legal entity, we cannot engage in financial activities. But we didn’t even think about it at the very beginning. The main thing was to help people, – said the volunteer. “They started to exert pressure in the last few days, before that no one bothered us.”
The Financial Police immediately reacted to the statements of the volunteers, and gave a refutation, stating that the information was not true. They even promised to find and punish a pseudo-employee.
“In turn, we inform you that the employees of the inter-district department of the State Service for Combating Economic Crimes in Bazar-Korgon, Nooken, Toguz-Torous regions and the city of Jalal-Abad and the region did not in any way contact with volunteer movements, did not carry out checks and there are no pre-trial productions concerning these associations. Currently, cooperation with a representative of the volunteer organization “Jalal-Abad youth movement” is underway and the data about pseudo-employee is being established, ”the Financial Police explained.
We recall that in Kyrgyzstan, many volunteer groups have joined the fight against COVID-19. They collect donations, help low-income families and hospitals.
