Kazakhstan: deputy suspects Social Insurance Fund of corruption and deaths of citizens

The chairman of the democratic party of Kazakhstan Ak Zhol, deputy of parliament Azat Peruashev addressed an open letter to the chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency Alik Shpekbayev, in which he demanded an inspection of the Social Health Insurance Fund.

According to the deputy, a letter from the founder of one of the private clinics, Kuanysh Kerimkulov, was previously published on social networks. It reported that the employees of the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) systematically violated the requirements of the guaranteed volume of free medical care (GVFMC) on the mandatory presence of intensive care units when concluding inpatient care contracts.

“According to the rules of GVFMC, there is a mandatory requirement that for every 100 beds in the hospital, at least 15 resuscitation places with the appropriate equipment, including lung ventilators, must be opened. However, according to Kuanysh, officials of the SHIF, based on corrupt relations, entered into contracts for inpatient assistance to the population, bypassing this requirement of the GVFMC, which led to the absence of resuscitation equipment at a critical moment. According to the author, compliance with the requirements of the GVFMC, on the contrary, would save the lives of many of our citizens and significantly reduce the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and pneumonia, ”Azat Peruashev said in an open appeal.

The deputy also notes that he sent a similar appeal to the Ministry of Health on July 16, but so far no response has been received

“In this regard, I ask you to check the information provided, and if it is confirmed, to consider the issue of bringing to justice the guilty officials and eliminating the indicated deficiencies in the equipment of medical inpatient institutions,” Peruashev sums up.

Recall that the Anti-Corruption Agency is conducting a pre-trial investigation against the former head of the SHIF, Aybatyr Zhumagulov, into embezzlement of funds “by overstating the cost of purchased services.”

The anti-corruption department became interested in Zhumagulov after his wife, TV presenter Gulbarshin Zairova, published a post on Instagram that her husband presentsd her the twelfth car.
