Kyrgyzstan: ex-deputy prime minister summoned for interrogation in a corruption case

In Kyrgyzstan, ex-Deputy Prime Minister Altynay Omurbekova was summoned for interrogation to the financial police in a criminal case on corruption and lobbying the interests of certain pharmaceutical companies. This was reported by the media office of the State Service for Combating Economic Crimes.

The investigation is currently establishing the circumstances of the case. In particular, we are talking about the fact that the responsible persons of the Ministry through state tenders purchased personal protective equipment for doctors due to the outbreak of COVID-19 ten times higher than the market value.

Even though earlier the Financial Police in the framework of this case had already called for interrogation of the former Minister of Health Kosmosbek Cholponbaev, he was again invited to the State Service for Combating Economic Crimes.
