Tajikistan: Mayor of Kulob was detained on suspicion of bribery

On June 8, the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan, in connection with the commission of corruption crimes, detained the chairman of the city of Kulob of Khatlon region, Bahrom Inoyatzoda. This was reported by the National News Agency of Tajikistan “Khovar”.

Earlier, on May 27, the driver of the chairman of the city of Kulob, Khurramov Khursandali Pardaevich, and on June 3, the head of the reception office of the head of the city, Kurbanov Firuz Davlathodzhaevich, were arrested on the suspicion of fraud.

“During the preliminary investigation, Khurramov Kh.P. and Kurbanov F.D. testified that they committed these acts in accordance with the direction of the chairman of the city of Kulob, Bahrom Inoyatzoda,” the SCNS reports.

It is noted that regarding the corruption acts of the chairman of the city, Bahrom Inoyatzoda, there are statements from residents of the city of Kulob. During the verification activities, the facts of corruption activities of the chairman of the city of Kulob were confirmed.

A criminal case has been opened against Bahrom Inoyatzoda by the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan together with the General Prosecutor’s office of the Republic of Tajikistan. A preliminary investigation is ongoing.
