Expired products, stored in the warehouses of Bishkek kindergartens due to COVID-19 quarantine, are forcibly sold to teachers. This was announced at the meeting of the Commission of the City council of Bishkek on social issues by deputy Kazybek Ergeshov.
The deputy said that in the warehouses of kindergartens, which were closed since March 20 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the food products to the sum of $66.6 thousand (more than 5.3 million KGS) rot. In this connection, Ergeshov proposed to distribute them as humanitarian aid.
In turn, the acting head of the education department of the city hall, Natalya Nikiforova, said that initially they tried to transfer perishable vegetables to the employees of the Department of the Interior. However, the Prosecutor’s office protested. As a result, products at the cost of $8.4 thousand (634 000 KGS) were returned to suppliers.
“We have products for $66.6 thousand (5.3 million KGS). These are long-term storage products,” concluded Nikiforova.
As a result, Kazybek Ergeshov said that he received information about the forced sale of products to educators.
“The directors of kindergarten were “strongly recommended” to fill out invoices stating that the suppliers allegedly accepted them back. But in fact, the finance department gave them empty invoices. The managers filled them in and returned them back. They were instructed to sell products to staff. Then they will deduct from their salaries in order to pay the suppliers,” the deputy explained.
