In Kazakhstan, tax fraudsters were released

The court in Medeu district of Almaty has sentenced former employees of the city department of state revenue (tax inspection), who were accused of abuse of power and fraud.

According to the Almaty Department of the Anti-Corruption Agency, the pre-trial investigation against the head of the department of accounting and control of personal accounts of the State Revenue Department (SRD) in Almaty, A. Kadirova, the leading specialist of the SRD in Almaty, A. Ilimova, as well as the director of the company “Lazzara Group”, M. Turdieva, and T. Talysbaev was completed. The case file was submitted to court.

As part of the investigation, it was possible to establish that Kadirova, at the instigation of Ilimova and Talysbaev, abused her official powers by illegally reducing the amount of customs payments and taxes in the personal accounts of a number of participants in foreign economic activity, which led to evasion of customs payments and taxes totaling $1.4 million.

On March 10, by the verdict of the court of Medeu, the director of the company “Lazzara Group”, M. Turdieva, was sentenced to 5 years in prison for organizing abuse of power by these persons and especially large-scale fraud. But the ex-employees of the SRD received just 4 years of restraint of liberty. In addition, they are deprived of their right to occupy public service posts for life.
