In Kyrgyzstan, tax officers were detained for extorting bribes

During the operational-search activities, the officers of the State Committee for National Security detained an inspector and the head of the State Tax Service (STS) of Leninsky district of Bishkek for extortion of a bribe.

Officials extorted $25 000 from a private company accountant for a positive decision based on a tax audit.

In February 2020, the STS inspector received a part of the money in the amount of $5000.

“On March 6, 2020, sanctioned searches were conducted in the offices of the inspector and the head of the STS of Leninsky district. Documents evidencing tax audits of private companies were seized,” the State Committee for National Security said.

On March 9, these officials were dismissed from the Tax Service in connection with the loss of confidence. The corresponding order was signed by the Chairman of the STS, Kabyl Abdaliev.

The materials of pre-trial proceedings are registered in the Unified Register under article 326 part 3 “Extortion of a bribe” of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The detainees were placed in the pre-trial detention center of the SCNS.
