In Kazakhstan, two regional officials were detained when receiving a bribe

Employees of the Anti-Corruption Agency detained two senior officials of the mayor’s office of the East Kazakhstan region on suspicion of bribery.

According to the press service of the department, the deputy head of the agricultural department and the head of the legal department of the mayor’s office are suspected of receiving bribes from the entrepreneur in the amount of $91.6 thousand for general patronage and assistance within the framework of the state program “Development of the agro-industrial complex for 2017-2021”.

Officials and a bribe giver were detained and placed in a temporary detention center of the police department of Ust-Kamenogorsk city. Pre-trial investigation is underway against the detainees.
