In Kyrgyzstan, officials are suspected of embezzlement of gold ore

The head and specialist of the White Defender [Solton Sary] mine, as well as the director of the gold-mining plant with the same name, were detained and put into the detention center of the State Committee for National Security.

Employees of the State Committee for National Security revealed facts of systematic embezzlement of gold ore from a gold recovery plant by officials of the Solton Sary mine. It was established that officials of the Solton Sary gold mining plant were systematically engaged in the illegal export of gold ore from the factory with further sale on the territory of Naryn and Chui regions.

“By carrying out operational-search measures in the village of Ognivo [Ottuk] in Naryn region, Mercedes Sprinter was checked. During the inspection, 35 bags of gold ore were found, with a total weight of about 1.5 tons. The estimated cost of the detained cargo on the black market is about $57.5 thousand (4 million KGS),” the State Committee said.

This fact is registered in the Unified Register on the grounds of a crime under the article 319 of Part 1 “Corruption” of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. Currently, relevant operational investigative measures are being taken to identify other persons involved in the theft of ore.

It should be noted that the White Defender mine [Solton Sary] belongs to the state concern Kyrgyz Gold OJSC (Kyrgyzaltyn).
