Three million soums ($316) were promised to the relatives of a deceased newborn child by a certain woman. She came to the parents after they filed an application with the Prosecutor General to institute criminal proceedings against the doctors of the maternity hospital of Kasan after the three days old infant died.
According to acca.media source, close to the family of victims, the woman introduced herself as a former employee of the regional health department of Kashkadarya. “She asked not to complain or write complaints anymore. People have no conscience… Will money return our boy to us?” says the mother of one of the parents, Fazilat Normuradova.
The baby died on October 16, two days after his birth. He was vaccinated, then he began to suffocate from a lack of oxygen. Doctors at the hospital advised his parents to go to the regional hospital of Karshi, where he died.
Now the administration of the hospital is trying in every way to evade responsibility. The representative of the Ministry of Health, Mahfuza Tashtemirova, believes that in this way people disgrace Uzbekistan. “Don’t post everything on the Internet. You live there and consult doctors. How will you look the doctors in the eye?” the official said. Tashtemirova was not embarrassed by the video with the parturient women on the floor, the facts of bribery and the absence of gynecological chairs, oxygen pads, syringes, shoe covers, medicines and gloves in the hospital.
Recall that earlier acca.media published material with facts characterizing the whole situation in maternity hospitals in Uzbekistan. During eight months of this year, 354 babies under the age of one year and thirteen parturient women died in Samarkand region. The reason is corruption, the lack of medicines and equipment, the criminal attitude of medical staff. This was reported by the press service of the regional administration. The total check-up of maternity hospitals began with a series of tragic events from February 28 to March 1, when the deaths of five newborns were recorded.
The region was “distinguished” by cases of child substitution, illegal abortions and the sale of infants. The working group, with unprecedented openness for Uzbekistan, unveiled the facts of the neglected state of the entire healthcare system. For example, in Akdarya district, it turned out that five children died as a result of late indications for a Caesarean section during nine months. The only breathing apparatus for premature newborns doesn’t work due to the lack of a centralized supply of oxygen.
