Kyrgyzstan: Minister of Energy, who was suspected of corrupt schemes, was removed from office

Doskul Bekmurzaev has been removed from his post as Minister of Energy. This was reported by the press service of the head of Kyrgyzstan.

The President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov signed a decree, according to which Doskul Bekmurzaev was removed from the post of Minister of Energy of the republic.

Earlier the Prosecutor General’s Office opened two criminal cases against the Minister of Energy. Both cases were initiated on the facts of abuse of office. In particular, in 2021-2022, Minister of Energy Doskul Bekmurzaev sent employees on business trips abroad to the UAE, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Russia at the expense of the budget. These people were not experts in the respective industry. As a result, the state suffered significant material damage.

In addition, during the overhaul of the facilities of the health complex “Teplye klyuchi” [“Warm sources”], Bekmurzaev caused damage to a private company in the amount of more than $185,873 (15 million KGS).
