Kyrgyzstan: Police captain was detained on the fact of extorting a bribe

On October 1, in Bishkek, officers of the State Committee for National Security detained a senior detective of the Criminal Investigation Department under the Department of Internal Affairs of Pervomaisky district of the capital, a police captain, red-handed.

“It was established that under the threat of prosecution and arrest, he extorted $1,870 (150,000 KGS) from a foreign citizen,” the State Committee reports.

As part of the criminal case under Article 343 part 1 “Extortion of a Bribe” of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, the senior detective was detained and placed in the pre-trial detention center of the State Committee for National Security for further investigative and operational activities.
