Kyrgyzstan: Ex-manager of Kumtor Gold Company was detained on the fact of corruption

The Prosecutor General’s Office of Kyrgyzstan detained the former external manager of Kumtor Gold Company.

Tengiz Bolturuk was detained by the Military Prosecutor’s Office on the fact of previously announced criminal cases.

“The Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Kyrgyz Republic, within the framework of initiated criminal cases on the fact of corruption crimes at Kumtor Gold Company CJSC, detained the former temporary external manager Tengiz Bolturuk, procurement specialist, director of the Finance Department Rysbek Toktogul. They were placed in the temporary detention center under the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Bishkek. The investigation is ongoing,” the Prosecutor General’s Office informed.

Earlier the Prosecutor General’s Office announced that three criminal cases were initiated following the results of the audit of the company’s activities. They are related to corruption in the company. According to a preliminary calculation, the state suffered damage in the amount of about 1 billion KGS.
