Kyrgyzstan: Three criminal cases were initiated as a result of the inspection at Kumtor

The Prosecutor General’s Office of Kyrgyzstan initiated 3 criminal cases based on the results of the inspection of the activities of the Closed Joint-Stock Company “Kumtor Gold Company”.

In particular, it was on the fact of violation of restrictions for the control structures of the joint-stock company in the case of the introduction of temporary external management established by the legislation on joint-stock companies.

“As a result of the corruption scheme of officials of this company, according to a preliminary calculation, the state suffered damage in the amount of about 1 billion KGS,” the Prosecutor General’s Office reports.

It’s worth noting that on August 23, Tengiz Bolturuk and Financial Director of the company Rysbek Toktogul were removed from the post of external manager of KGC CJSC. In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers instructed Tengiz Bolturuk to provide a full report on his work by September 6. The Cabinet of Ministers will consider the report on Friday, September 16.
