Kyrgyzstan: Batken policemen tortured detainee for two days

A man, who was detained in the Department of Internal Affairs of the city of Batken on August 20, applied to the National Center for the Prevention of Torture.

According to the statement, he was illegally detained and for two days he was kept in the office of police officers. The man was tortured by the employees of the department: the chief, his deputy, and an operational officer. A measure of restraint was chosen for him in the form of arrest for 15 days until September 4, 2022.

Upon the fact of the received application, employees of the National Center for the Prevention of Torture left for a visit to the Department of Internal Affairs of the city of Batken. They recorded traces of beatings in the chest area, on the back, and on the hands of the detainee.

The application with video and photographic materials attached to it will be transferred to the prosecutor’s office.
