The high-profile case of taking a $50,000 bribe by an investigator from the Uchtepa Prosecutor’s Office ended with a court verdict of 13 years in prison.
The defendant was found guilty by the Yashnabad District Criminal Court under paragraph “a” of part 3 of Article 210 (taking a bribe) of the Criminal Code. He is also deprived of the right to hold leadership positions and work in the prosecutor’s office for a period of three years.
Earlier, ACCA wrote about the arrest of this investigator during an operational event and the nervous reaction of the Prosecutor General’s Office to how citizens on the Internet reacted to this news. The agency condemned “heavy discussions in social networks and the media.”
“At the legislative level, it is forbidden to interfere in the investigative process, and it is also forbidden to predict its outcomes and speculate with false information. All this hinders an independent consideration of the case, ”the press service explained and called on the public to cooperate in the fight against corruption.
“This appeal showed the helplessness of the state in the fight against bribery and the decline in the level of professionalism of greedy employees of law enforcement agencies. They arrogantly rely on their untouchability,” the ACCA expert noted.
On August 3, at the time of receiving $50,000, an employee of the Investigative Department of the Department for Coordinating the Activities of the Department of Internal Affairs in Samarkand was detained. The Prosecutor General’s Office reports that the investigator promised the suspect mitigation of punishment in a criminal case.
