During the interrogation, the investigator of the Uzgen District Department of Internal Affairs shouted at the women, insulted them, beat the table with his fists, and threatened them.
On August 11, two residents of the city of Uzgen applied to the regional office of the National Center for the Prevention of Torture in the city of Osh and the Osh region with a complaint against police officers.
In their statement, they indicated that they had been subjected to ill-treatment, intimidation, humiliation, and insults by the officers of the Uzgen District Department of Internal Affairs. According to them, at about 8 o’clock in the morning, the policemen came to the market they own and blocked the entrance. The employees of the District Department of Internal Affairs argued their decision with an “order from above”.
The videos provided by the applicants to the National Center show that the policemen did not introduce themselves and did not provide the necessary documents. According to the applicants, they were seized, their arms and legs were twisted, and they were rudely put into a car. After that, the women were taken to the Uzgen District Department of Internal Affairs and placed in the assembly hall, where one of the women lost consciousness. Despite this, she was not provided with primary medical care, and the police refused her request to call an ambulance.
After some time, one of the police officers entered the assembly hall and in an insulting manner ordered them to be seated. According to other police officers, it was the head of the police department.
“The detainees were also not provided with a lawyer, the first interrogation was carried out without him. As the women noted in their statement, during the interrogation the investigator shouted at them, insulted them, beat the table with his fists, and threatened,” the human rights activists report.
Both women have bruises on their arms and legs.
The application with attached video and photo materials will be transferred to the prosecutor’s office.
