On August 3, at the time of receiving $5,000, an employee of the Investigative Department of the Department for Coordinating the Activities of the Department of Internal Affairs in Samarkand was detained. The Prosecutor General’s Office reports that the investigator promised the suspect mitigation of punishment in the criminal case.
A criminal case was initiated against him under paragraph “c” of part 2 of article 210 (Taking a bribe) of the Criminal Code.
Earlier, ACCA wrote about the receipt of a $50,000 bribe by an investigator from the prosecutor’s office of the Uchtepa district of Tashkent. The Prosecutor General’s Office then condemned “heavy discussions in social networks and the media” and reacted at length to the activity of users.
“At the legislative level, it is forbidden to interfere in the investigative process, and it is also forbidden to predict its outcomes and speculate with false information. All this hinders an independent consideration of the case, ”the press service explained and called on the public to cooperate in the fight against corruption.
“This appeal showed the helplessness of the state in the fight against bribery and the decline in the level of professionalism of greedy employees of law enforcement agencies. They arrogantly rely on their untouchability,” the ACCA expert notes.
On August 3, President Mirziyoyev recognized the problem of the loss of professional competencies in the investigative corps. He instructed to create a new system for training professional personnel for the bodies of inquiry and investigation, their retraining and continuous professional development.
