Relatives of a 28-year-old accused of raping a six-year-old girl are trying to reduce his sentence. They put pressure on the mother of the injured girl, putting her before a choice – help in the treatment of her daughter and cover other expenses in exchange for a short prison term.
Three six-year-old girls, students of the zero grade, were returning from school on May 26, 2022, when a 28-year-old fellow villager came out to meet them. He invited the girls to the yard to eat mulberries. After he invited them home, he fed them fried potatoes with eggs. He asked the girls about their parents. Two girls called the names of their fathers, the third – the name of their mother. It was the third girl that the rapist chose as a victim. Saying that they would go down together with her and bring water, he took her to a neighboring building and raped her.
The mother of the injured girl says that, despite the severe psychological blow, she initially had no particular intentions of obtaining a harsh punishment for the rapist.
“Let the court decide and what the Almighty indicates, so be it,” she reasoned.
But after strange actions on the part of the relatives of the accused, she reconsidered her position. Now she is interested in the most severe punishment for him. According to the woman, the defendant’s mother allegedly started a rumor in the village that she had asked for nine million soms for a counterclaim.
And in a personal conversation, the mother of the accused asked the woman to help in reducing the term for her son. She said that if her son was given at least 15 years in prison, she would assist in the treatment of the injured girl and pay her monthly rent in any city. And if the son is sentenced to 25 years or a life sentence, she will not provide any help.
In addition, the woman says that before talking with the mother of the accused, the heads of the village met with her. They asked not to swear at her when they met. They also expressed the idea that it would be possible to register the house of the accused in her name in case of an agreement. The woman suggests that, perhaps, they thus hinted at her help in mitigating guilt for the accused.
According to the lawyer of the Jalal-Abad human rights organization “Justice” Nurislam Rayimzhanov, violence in the Kyrgyz society is becoming too much due to the fact that the rapists do not realize their responsibility for what they have done. In his opinion, it is necessary to give a maximum term for such crimes. Speaking specifically about this crime, the lawyer points out that the criminal case has all the evidence of the deed: the girl’s hair was found at the crime scene, traces of the defendant’s sperm were found, and traces of blood on the girl’s underwear. There is a confirming forensic biological examination.
In addition, there are direct testimonies of two girls in the case, who saw with their own eyes how the defendant took off the girl’s clothes and strangled her, despite the girl’s screams. But they were forced to flee when the accused shouted at them: “Get out!”
All the girls during the investigation identified the rapist.
The mother of the injured girl applied to the Nooken District Prosecutor’s Office with a request to protect her daughter and herself in accordance with the Law of Kyrgyzstan “On the Protection of the Rights of Participants in Criminal Proceedings”.
A 28-year-old man was placed in a temporary detention center of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Nooken region. The case will be considered in the Nooken District Court on August 15.
