Kyrgyzstan: Internal Affairs Investigator detained on extortion of bribe

He was caught red-handed while taking a $2,000 bribe.

On July 28, the State Committee for National Security, together with the Internal Investigation Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, detained an investigator of the Investigative Service, a senior lieutenant of police and an operative of the CID, a police captain of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Leninsky district of Bishkek.

“The investigator extorted money from a foreign citizen for stopping the prosecution based on the materials of the pre-investigation check. Within the framework of the criminal case under article 343 of part 2 “Extortion of a bribe” of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, an investigator of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Leninsky district of Bishkek was detained and placed in a temporary detention center of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic,” the State Committee informs.

Investigations are currently underway.
