In the LB/K-12 penal colony, a prisoner died last week. This was reported by ACCA sources from the Lebap velayat, close to the structures of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to ACCA sources, last week the temperature was abnormally high in Turkmenistan, in the city of Seydi the temperature reached +48 degrees Celsius. In the colonies, checks and recounts of prisoners are carried out three times a day, which last about 1.5 hours. All this time, the prisoners are on the barrack square in the open air.
As it turned out, during one of these checks, the man felt unwell and turned to the medical unit, where he was refused an examination, they did not even measure his pulse and pressure, although the prisoner was hypertensive. Toward evening he became worse, and his gait was like a drunken man. He again turned to the doctors, they accused him of sloppiness and unwillingness to work. When the prisoner was leaving the medical unit, the doctors noticed his gait and called the guards. The prisoner was called a drug addict and beaten, then he was placed in a punishment cell. There, he was repeatedly beaten for not saying where he was using drugs. Whenever the prisoner said that he had high blood pressure and needed medical help, the guards beat him even harder. After 10 pm, the prisoner again turned to the guards with a request to call the doctor on duty and provide him with medical assistance. The prisoner was taken to the yard of the punitive confinement and kicked half to death, after which they threw him on the floor in the cell. In punitive confinement, breakfast is served to the cells at 5 am. When they opened the cell where the beaten prisoner was, they found a lifeless body. The duty officer was immediately called and the body was taken away from the colony.
Our source said that the cause of death was indicated as a stroke, and the supervisory prosecutor did not even begin to conduct any checks on the fact of the murder of a prisoner, none of the colony guards incurred any responsibility.
