Kyrgyzstan: officials of the Manas Ordo complex are suspected of embezzlement

An audit at the Manas Ordo National Complex revealed numerous financial irregularities. A criminal case has been initiated.

According to the audit report for 2020 to 2021, at the expense of the republican budget and a special account, the employees of this institution were unreasonably accrued and paid material assistance, bonuses, excessive vacation pay, and allowances for health hazards. All this was done without a workplace survey protocol.

Also, financial violations were revealed in tender purchases, payment for electricity, misuse of money allocated from the President’s Reserve Fund, and sponsorship contribution for the purchase of a car for the needs of the complex.

“As a result, the responsible persons of the Manas Ordo complex unreasonably spent $ 260,000 (20 million 659.3 thousand soms). On this fact, the prosecutor’s office of the Talas region initiated a criminal case under article 337 “Abuse of official position” of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic and an investigation is underway,” the Prosecutor General’s Office reports.
