Kazakhstan: 7 officers of Inspectorate were convicted of corruption

There was a rich catch of corrupt officials by corruption fighters in the Transport Control Inspectorate of the East Kazakhstan region.

According to the Anti-Corruption Agency, seven officers of the Inspectorate conspired and received bribes from cargo carriers from July to September 2021 in the amount of $25 to $715 for unchecked movement within the region and general patronage.

Corruption fighters also note: during the analysis, it was found that the inspectors don’t follow the procedure for video recording during verification activities.

“In almost all cases, only the process of stopping the vehicle and requesting the necessary documents was recorded. The control procedure itself wasn’t recorded. And according to the available 289 video recordings, inconsistencies in dates and times were established,” the Agency reported.

It remains to add that on the fact of systemic corruption, all seven inspectors were sentenced to various terms.
