Kyrgyzstan: Another fact of the use of torture in the detention center was recorded by human rights activists

A man, who was kept in the temporary detention facility of Department of Internal Affairs of Ala-Buka district, claimed to have been tortured by the police officers.

On June 23, during a visit to the temporary detention facility of the Department of Internal Affairs of Ala-Buka district, a man, who was kept there, applied with a statement. He reported that he was tortured by police officers.

“Upon arrival from pre-trial detention center No.25 to the temporary detention center of Ala-Buka district, during a personal search, an officer on duty named Azamat demanded to remove the laces from his trousers. However, the man refused, explaining that if he took them off, the trousers would fall off. He said that he would take off his laces only when he entered the cell. As a result, several police officers tied him up and started beating him, and then dragged him into the cell by force,” the statement says.

Later, the detainee was called an ambulance and provided the necessary assistance. The arrival of the ambulance is registered in the medical journal. Human rights activists filled out the Istanbul protocol. It will be handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office.
