On June 8, the City Court of Bishkek returned the complaint of an employee of Temirov Live YouTube channel to the Pervomaiskiy District Court. This was reported to ACCA by the girl’s lawyer Bakyt Avtandil uulu.
The District Court motivated its decision by saying that the deadline for appealing against the decision of the Military Prosecutor’s Office, which had previously refused to initiate a criminal case against a suspect who had disseminated a video of the personal life of an employee of Temirov Live YouTube channel, had expired.
However, at the meeting of the City Court on June 8, it turned out that the decision of the District Court didn’t indicate the time frame, in connection with that fact the judicial board of the City Court of Bishkek again returned the complaint to the District Court.
“When the terms are restored,” says Bakyt Avtandil uulu, “the complaint will be returned to the City Court, where it will be considered on the merits.”
According to the lawyer, the incident that happened is not accidental and indicates that ‘the case is under the control of the State Committee for National Security’.
“This could be considered a slip or a mistake if the judge, who didn’t indicate the deadlines in the document, wasn’t so experienced. Apparently, they want to slow the case down, since we are suing the special services,” says Bakyt Avtandil uulu.
It’s worth recalling that journalist Bolot Temirov and his Temirov Live team are investigating corruption in the highest authorities of Kyrgyzstan. At the end of January, employees of the Service for Combating Illicit Drug Traffic raided the project office. They burst into the office, telling everyone to lie down on the floor. Two policemen sat on the back of editor-in-chief Bolot Temirov, then they lifted him up, forced him to empty his pockets and found a small plastic bag among his things. Declaring that it contained marijuana, the police detained the journalist and for some reason confiscated all office equipment.
The next day, Temirov was released on his own recognizance against the backdrop of rallies in his support. A criminal case was brought against him on suspicion of possession of drugs, and later it was reclassified as drug manufacturing.
In the same days, an intimate video of an employee of Temirov Live, who became a victim of sex blackmail by the special services, appeared on social networks.
A few weeks before Temirov’s arrest, a man met the girl in the gym, they began a romantic relationship.
Later, a source in law enforcement structures said that this man works for the Kyrgyz special services – the State Committee for National Security. While there was an intimate relationship between young people, a video was made with a hidden camera. And then several people, who identified themselves as employees of the State Committee for National Security, tried to find out from her about the upcoming investigations of Temirov, threatening to destroy her life and the reputation of her parents.
In early June, journalists from Temirov Live’s project identified the person who filmed their colleague and circulated the video on social networks.
Bolot Temirov announced this on his Telegram channel, attaching a photo of the man and a picture of his fake passport.
“We were confirmed that his name is Beksultan. He was born in 1993, graduated from the school No.60. This is the same Don Juan who shot the video and put it on the net. He still has a lot of cases in relation to our team, which range from the word scum to the criminal. We need to know everything about him!” Temirov wrote.
The investigation of Temirov Live says that the man may be involved in the disclosure of the private life of the employee of Temirov Live, blackmail and falsification of evidence in the case of Bolot Temirov’s passport.
It should be noted that in January the State Committee for National Security denied its involvement in the persecution of investigative journalists of Temirov Live. They noted that the employees of the special services ‘have nothing to do with the publications circulated on social networks’.
“It’s surprising that certain interested persons made irresponsible statements and used some epithets at the address of the Department, accusing it and without giving any arguments, let alone evidence, thereby trying to oppose the public against the security agencies,” the SCNS said.
