On June 9, political scientist Marat Kazakpaev’s health deteriorated sharply; an ambulance was called for him. Doctors took him to the Clinical Hospital No.1 in Bishkek
Since April 14, 2021, Marat Kazakpaev has been held in the pre-trial detention center of the State Committee for National Security under Article 307 of part 1 “Treason” of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
From March 9, 2022 to the present, the criminal case is being considered and is being processed by the Pervomaiskiy District Court of Bishkek.
“During his stay in the pre-trial detention center, Kazakpaev was regularly examined by doctors and received appropriate treatment. Despite this, in connection with a complaint received on April 19 about visual impairment, he was examined by an ophthalmologist who diagnosed ‘Partial hemophthalmia of his right eye and high myopia of both eyes’. In this regard, from April 27 to May 19, he was at the hospital,” the State Committee reported.
During inpatient treatment, Kazakpaev was examined by a cardiologist who diagnosed ‘Hypertension III degree, stage 2 of high risk, atherosclerosis of the aorta, cerebral vessels’. All this time he was observed by doctors and received medical treatment. They assessed his state of health as satisfactory.
