Kazakhstan: The official was fined $230,000 for taking a $33,500 bribe

Tamerlan Razbekov, the former head of the Department of Entrepreneurship, Industrial and Innovative Development of Almaty region, was fined $230,000 by a court verdict.

The trial in the case of Razbekov began on March 1, 2022. According to the prosecution, the head of the Entrepreneurship Department received a bribe from the top officials of АСПМК-519 company Viktor Sychev and his son Alexander Sychev in the amount of $33.5 thousand for signing the act of work performed in the amount of more than $220,000.

However, the Anti-Corruption Agency found out about the corruption crime. As a result, Tamerlan Razbekov was brought to trial on charges of taking a large bribe, and Sychevs (father and son) were charged with giving a large bribe committed by a group of people.

According to the verdict of the City Court of Taldykorgan, Tamerlan Razbekov (head of the Department of Entrepreneurship, Industrial and Innovative Development of Almaty region) was fined $230,000 with deprivation of the right to hold positions in the public service for life. The top officials of АСПМК-519 company were sentenced to 3 years of restriction of freedom.
