On May 18, while receiving a bribe in the amount of $190 (15,000 KGS), the chief inspector of the control and inspection service of Bazar-Korgon district under the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Regional Administration of Jalal-Abad was caught red-handed.
It was established that the chief inspector of the control and inspection service extorted $630 (50,000 KGS) for concealing the fact of illegally cut down green plantations on private territory. In case of refusal to pay, he threatened to transfer the materials to law enforcement agencies for the further legal proceedings.
“On this fact, the Prosecutor’s Office of Bazar-Korgon district of Jalal-Abad region initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under article 343 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic “Extortion of a bribe”. The detainee was placed in the temporary detention facility of the Internal Affairs Department of Bazar-Korgon district,” the State Committee for National Security reports.
Relevant activities are currently ongoing within the framework of pre-trial proceedings.
