Kyrgyzstan: Ex-head of state-owned enterprise TNC Dastan was detained in corruption case

As part of a criminal case on the fact of the illegal withdrawal of expensive real estate from state property on the territory of the recreation center “Aurora Plus”, Aleksey Shirshov (the ex-head of the state-owned enterprise Transnational corporation Dastan) was detained. This was reported by the State Committee for National Security.

Within the framework of this criminal case, the facts of a criminal conspiracy of business representatives with certain officials of state and judicial bodies were established. As a result of illegal actions, 56 expensive apartments and 27 cottages were illegally taken into the ownership of private structures through the creation of complex corruption schemes. Judges of the District and Regional Courts of Issyk-Kul, Inter-district Courts of Bishkek, Chui and Issyk-Kul regions, the Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as officials from the Presidential Administration, the State Property Fund and the State Registration Service were involved in it.

“In order to realize their criminal intentions, this group has secured the patronage of high-ranking officials of state and judicial bodies by transferring money and real estate to the latter, including in the recreation center “Aurora Plus”. As a result of the creation of this corruption scheme, especially large damage was caused to the interests of the state,” the State Committee clarifies.

The investigation established that one of the main organizers of the removal of the said property from state ownership was Aleksey Shirshov.

“Based on the evidence collected in the case, on May 10, Aleksey Shirshov was detained on suspicion of committing a crime under Article 336, part 1 (“Corruption”) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic,” the State Committee for National Security informed.

Now, Shirshov has been placed in the temporary detention facility of the pre-trial detention center under the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic. In the near future, the court will choose a measure of restraint for him.
