Kyrgyzstan: Interior Ministry officers were arrested for extorting bribe

In Kyrgyzstan, employees of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime under the Ministry of Internal Affairs were detained for extorting $6,000.

A citizen addressed the State Committee for National Security with a statement about taking measures against employees of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime. According to the man, law enforcement officials extort a bribe from him for a positive decision on the criminal case.

On this fact, the Main Investigative Directorate of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic initiated a criminal case under Article 343 of part 1 “Extortion of a bribe” of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

“In the course of the investigation, this fact was confirmed. As a result, on February 22, two employees of the Department were caught red-handed. At present, the detainees have been placed in the temporary detention center of the State Committee for National Security,” the Ministry said.
